Here are the models of internet boxes currently offered by Swisscom:

  • Swisscom Internet Box (light, standard, or plus)

  • Swisscom Internet Box 2

  • Swisscom Internet Box 3

  • Swisscom Internet Box 4

  • Swisscom WLAN-Box 2

  • Swisscom WLAN-Box 3

How to Install the Swisscom Internet-Box

To install your new Swisscom Internet Box, follow the simple instructions provided in the shipping box or available in PDF format on My Swisscom.

Before you start the installation, prepare the following items:

  • Swisscom Internet-Box (router)

  • Power adapter

  • Internet cable based on the type of internet connection verified during subscription activation (fiber optic, VDSL, or other)

Here are the steps to correctly install the Swisscom Internet Box and start surfing on the Swisscom network:

  1. If you already have an installed internet box, disconnect it first, ensuring that the router is off and unplugged from the power.

  2. Place the Internet-Box and cables in front of the identified internet outlet in your home.

  3. Connect the Internet-Box to the power supply by first plugging the cable into the router and then into the power outlet.

  4. Take the cable with green and red ends and insert the red end into the appropriate input port (fiber or DSL, depending on your connection type).

  5. Insert the fiber optic or DSL cable first into the internet box and then into the internet outlet on your wall.

  6. Turn on the internet box by pressing the "Power" button and wait about 10 minutes for the device to configure correctly, indicated by the LED light turning white.

  7. If the light does not turn white, check that all cables are properly connected and repeat the power-on process, waiting again for 10 minutes.

Keep these tips in mind for a proper installation of the Swisscom Internet-Box to ensure optimal connection performance:

  • Install the Internet-Box in a central location in your apartment to increase indoor network coverage. If necessary, purchase an additional WLAN-Box to extend the range of your main Internet-Box.

  • Place it on top of a piece of furniture or a shelf (not behind or inside furniture) to improve signal quality.

  • Verify the location by performing multiple WLAN tests in different rooms of the house using the appropriate function in My Swisscom or through our speedtest tool.

How to Change the Swisscom Wi-Fi Name and Password

To modify the default router and WLAN settings associated with your Swisscom Internet-Box, you can use two tools:

  • Router-Portal Swisscom: If you are at home and connected to the WLAN network, visit http://internetbox.swisscom.ch or 192.161.1.1 through your browser and enter the password printed on the modem label to customize it.

  • My Swisscom: Alternatively, you can change the password anytime and anywhere via your My Swisscom account by visiting the appropriate section in your personal area.

Swisscom Internet-Box LED Lights: Meaning and Troubleshooting

The Swisscom Internet-Box uses different colored light signals to indicate the connection status of the router to the network and to signal ongoing operations or connection issues.

Here is the legend of the LED lights on the Swisscom Internet-Box:

  • Solid White LED: Your Swisscom Internet-Box is correctly connected to the internet.

  • Blinking White LED: The Swisscom Internet Box is downloading an update, and a router reboot will follow shortly.

  • Solid Red LED: Network error message. Turn off and on the Internet-Box again, then wait for the light to return to white.

  • Blinking Red LED: The internet connection is absent; please check that the DSL or fiber optic cable is properly connected.

  • Solid Blue LED: The Internet-Box is faulty and needs to be replaced by contacting Swisscom.

  • Alternating White and Red LED: The Internet-Box is receiving a new configuration from Swisscom. If this continues to blink for more than 10 minutes, contact support to complete the firmware update manually.
