Which Internet Box Does Salt Offer?
By signing up for a Salt Home contract, you will always benefit from the maximum connection speed available at your address. The internet connection is exclusively fiber optic. If your home is not covered by the fiber network, there is an option to activate a 5G FWA connection with the corresponding 5G router from Salt.
Here are the available Salt Internet Box models:
Salt Fiber Box
Salt Fiber Box X6
Salt Gigabox
The Salt Fiber Box X6 differs from the previous model as it integrates sixth-generation Wi-Fi, allowing for even faster WLAN speeds. The Salt Gigabox is the 5G router sold along with the external 5G CPE unit.
All three Salt internet boxes are paired with an Apple TV 4K decoder to enjoy the best entertainment in ultra-high definition.
Installing the Salt Fiber Box
After subscribing to a Salt Home plan, you will receive a package containing the Salt Fiber Box, which you need to install to set up your new WLAN network.
Before starting, it's important to ensure that the package contains the following items:
Fiber Box (white or black, depending on the model)
Power cable
Fiber optic cable
Wi-Fi Welcome card with the pre-set network name and password
Follow these instructions to properly install your Salt internet box:
Take a photo of the label under the Fiber Box containing the QR code to access the admin interface.
Take the fiber optic cable and position it near the OTO outlet on your wall.
Remove the cap from the fiber optic port on your Salt Fiber Box and insert the other end of the fiber optic cable.
Connect the fiber optic cable to the OTO outlet using the port indicated in the email you received during the subscription process, or retrieve this information from your My Salt account (section Subscriptions > Internet).
Connect the power cable to the back of the Fiber Box and then plug it into the power outlet.
Press the POWER button and wait for the router to begin its reboot.
About 10 minutes after rebooting, the four LEDs will light up, indicating that your Salt Fiber Box is connected and ready for use.
Connect your mobile device by scanning the QR code on the Wi-Fi Welcome card or by manually entering the password.
Depending on the model of the Salt modem you receive, the instructions provided here might vary slightly. Therefore, we recommend following the printed instructions that come with the router.
Useful Tips for Correct Installation of the Salt Box
To get the most out of your new Salt Home connection:
Position the Fiber Box in the center of your home.
Install the Fiber Box horizontally and, if possible, in an elevated position.
Avoid placing the Salt modem behind the TV or near aquariums or other electronic devices.
When you are in the same room as your Salt Fiber Box, use the 5 GHz network, but switch to the 2 GHz network if you are in a distant room.
How to Change the Name and Password of Salt Wi-Fi?
On your Wi-Fi Welcome card, sent together with the Salt Fiber Box, you will find the default information regarding the network name (SSID) and the Wi-Fi password. If you wish to change the name or password of your Wi-Fi network, you will need to access the advanced settings.
To change the Salt Wi-Fi password, open the page https://salt.box while connected to the WLAN network. Once identified with the username "admin" and the "GUI Password" listed on the label under the Salt Fiber Box, you can access the admin panel and modify the password as desired.
