The report highlights that, thanks to new entrants and growing competition, mobile tariffs have significantly dropped, offering better services at more affordable prices.
Over the past three years, the prices for unlimited mobile subscriptions have drastically decreased, with many options available for less than CHF 20 per month. Some of the new packages include up to 40 GB of high-speed roaming data and unlimited services in Switzerland, at lower costs than previous years. Notably, a new postpaid plan with unlimited data and voice, along with 3 GB of roaming in Europe, has been launched at just CHF 14.95 per month—the most affordable on the Swiss market right now.
The average mobile data consumption per user in Switzerland continues to grow exponentially, having tripled between 2018 and 2022. This trend is projected to continue in 2023-2024, with the average usage exceeding 20 GB per month per active SIM, driven by the rapid spread of 5G and the increase in Data SIM cards.
Unlimited Plans Are Cheaper and Now Include GB for Europe
One of the most significant developments is the rise in unlimited mobile plans that include data roaming. Out of the 23 operators analyzed in 2024, 22 offer unlimited tariffs in Switzerland that include at least 1 GB of EU roaming, all priced under CHF 40 per month. This provides Swiss consumers with more flexibility and savings.
Among the new savings opportunities, two of Switzerland’s three traditional mobile network operators are included.
What Has Changed Compared to Previous Years
In 2024, we see a significant drop in prices for unlimited mobile plans with roaming and an increase in providers offering tariffs below CHF 40 per month. The number of these providers has risen from 17 to 22.
At the same time, the best price in this category has decreased by about 25%, creating additional savings opportunities for Swiss mobile customers.

Between 2018 and 2022, the average monthly data consumption per active SIM nearly tripled, and it is likely that this trend will continue in the current two-year period, given the ongoing development of the 5G network.
