nPerf Analysis: Switzerland's Average Speed is the Highest Among Neighboring Countries

A recent study conducted by nPerf from January 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024, reveals that Switzerland ranks at the top in terms of average mobile internet speed.

Switzerland Leads Ahead of Austria and France, with Italy at the Bottom

The analysis, based on data collected from speed tests carried out through the nPerf app (available on Android and iOS), examines 1,620,051 tests, including 20,843 in Switzerland. The results show that Switzerland leads in terms of average download speed, with a rate of 139 Mbit/s, only 1 Megabit per second higher than the Austrian average, but a significant 57 Mbit/s higher than the Italian average.

nPerf's Analysis Considered Data from the Major Mobile Operators in Each Market, Listed Below:

  • Switzerland: Swisscom, Salt, Sunrise

  • Austria: Drei, Magenta, A1

  • France: Orange, Bouygues, Free, SFR

  • Croatia: Hrvatski, Telekom, Tele2, A1

  • Slovenia: Telemach, Telekom, T-2, A1

  • Italy: TIM, Wind3, Vodafone, Iliad, Fastweb

This outcome is closely linked to the superior mobile network coverage of advanced technologies such as 4G+ and 5G across Switzerland and the presence of a competitive and healthy market, where even virtual operators are driven to compete on the quality of services offered rather than just on price.
