-
Call forwarding is a service provided by all Swiss telephone companies, both for mobile and landline connections, which allows you to redirect incoming calls from your main number to a different one.
-
Call forwarding can be activated on both mobile and landline numbers when you are unable to answer the phone, when the number is busy, or unreachable.
-
The cost usually depends on the tariff plan of the destination phone line, that is, the line to which the call is being forwarded. In the case of a landline number, an additional fee may be charged as a monthly subscription to use the service.
Here is an easy guide to understand how to activate or deactivate call forwarding on mobile and landline phones.
Call Forwarding on Mobile Numbers
Compared to the past, call forwarding is particularly useful on mobile numbers today. For instance, you may temporarily be unavailable on your work number and need to forward calls to your personal number in specific circumstances.

It is also a useful service if you have a landline, perhaps in the office, and want to forward calls to your mobile phone when the landline is busy. Let's start with the first scenario.

On your smartphone, call forwarding can be activated or deactivated directly from the device settings, specifically the phone menu, or by dialing specific codes depending on your mobile operator.
iOS System
For example, if you have an Apple iPhone, you need to access the settings menu, navigate to the phone category, select call forwarding, and then choose to enable it with ON or disable it with OFF. It's that simple. If you are activating call forwarding for the first time, you will need to enter the phone number to which calls should be forwarded and save the settings.
Android System
If you have an Android smartphone, you need to access the settings menu, go to the call section, and select call forwarding. Then, you can configure the call forwarding options: always activate it, activate it when you don't answer due to a busy line or unavailability. Here, too, you will need to enter the number to which calls should be redirected.
Using Codes on Your Smartphone
However, it's important to know that there are specific codes you can enter directly on your phone's keypad to activate or deactivate call forwarding.

-
For example, using the code **21*+41 followed by the phone number and #, call forwarding will be active for all calls.
-
Using the code **61*+41 followed by the phone number and #, calls will be forwarded only when you are unable to answer.
-
Using the code **62*+41 followed by the phone number and #, call forwarding will be activated only when you are unreachable.
-
Using **67*+41 followed by the phone number and #, call forwarding will be activated when your main number is busy.

After entering the chosen code, a service activation message should appear on your screen.

To deactivate call forwarding, you can use the following codes: enter ##002# on the keypad and press enter to disable all call forwarding, enter ##61# and press enter to disable call forwarding when you can't answer the phone, enter ##62# and press enter to remove call forwarding when you are unreachable, and finally, enter ##67# followed by enter to eliminate call forwarding when your number is busy.
Call Forwarding on Landline Phones
As mentioned earlier, call forwarding can be activated (and deactivated) on landline numbers as well. You can contact your telephone company's customer service or use similar codes used for mobile telephony. If you prefer to call your telephone company's customer service, you will need to dial the specific number, speak to an operator, and request the activation or deactivation of the service.

If you want to use a code directly on your landline phone's keypad, there are several options depending on your needs. Keep in mind that, unlike mobile phones, call forwarding on landlines usually incurs an additional monthly fee on top of your regular tariff plan.
Costs and Landline Codes
Therefore, especially if you choose to call your telephone company's customer service, it is advisable to inquire about the costs associated with the service, which usually range from a minimum of 1.50 CHF to 3 CHF, depending on the telephone company.

The code to enter on the keypad also depends on the operator. In any case, usually by dialing *21* followed by the number to which you want to forward calls and then pressing the # key, you can activate call forwarding. To deactivate it, you can enter the code #21#.
