Which network does Coop Mobile use?
All mobile services offered by Coop Mobile utilize the Swisscom mobile network. This means that when you make a call, send a message, or browse the internet using a Coop Mobile SIM, you are connected via an antenna managed by Swisscom, even though you are not a customer of the Swiss telecommunications giant.
As of January 8, 2019, Coop Mobile ceased using the Salt network and announced that all customers wishing to remain with Coop Mobile would need to activate a new subscription on the Swisscom network. Alternatively, they would remain on the Salt network, with the subscription being directly managed by Salt Mobile.
Does Coop Mobile offer 5G?
Coop Mobile offers 4G/LTE access on all Coop Mobile subscriptions and Coop Prepaid SIM cards. For those seeking higher speeds, it has been possible to activate the 5G Speed option since 2023, which allows access to the Swisscom 5G network.
The 5G Speed option can be activated independently by accessing the Coop customer account or Cockpit, but only if you have a Coop Mobile subscription. It is not available for Coop Mobile Prepaid customers.
The Coop Mobile 5G Speed option costs 10 CHF/month, has a minimum duration of 30 days, and can be canceled at any time. The Coop 5G option is automatically activated in Switzerland for Multi SIMs as well, allowing a browsing speed of up to 2 Gbps.
