Swiss Operators: Complete List of Swiss Operators

Depending on the type of services offered, we can talk about different types of operators:

• Internet access providers offer home internet subscriptions via fiber optic or other network technologies.

• Mobile providers can be distinguished into some subcategories:

  • Mobile network operators, that is, providers of subscriptions who also manage their own physical antenna network.

  • Virtual mobile operators (MVNO), who offer their subscriptions by "renting" the mobile network of a traditional network operator (MNO).

  • Prepaid mobile providers who offer not only mobile subscriptions but also prepaid SIM cards.

• TV providers who offer IPTV subscriptions using platforms directly or indirectly integrated with the provided router.

• Fixed-line telephony providers who offer fixed-line telephone services via VoIP technology.

If an operator is able to offer all the types of services described in the list above and also manages the physical network, then we can talk about a "universal operator". In Switzerland, there are 3 universal operators capable of providing any type of subscription and managing the physical network: Swisscom, Sunrise, and Salt.
